Breakfast Day 2

Another fine meal of puppy goo followed by a drink at Mother's Milk Bar. They have taken to "solid" food extremely well. As soon as the dish was down in their pen, they were lining up to eat. It's hard to see them growing up so fast but at the same time, it's tremendously exciting (it always is...)

Let's Meet Meat!

Today marked the occasion of the pups first real meal (other than mother's milk). Earlier today, Pekoe had decided to share (second handedly) some of *her* breakfast, so I decided it was time for the pups to start on "real food." They took to it like the little carnivores that they are. A gruel of ground chicken backs, yogurt and goat's milk was a fine introduction to the world of adult food. The attached video shares their enthusiasm. The slide show illustrates the mess. Pekoe had a grand time cleaning them after it was all said and done.

We Moving On Up!....

...,to the East Side. We finally got a piece of the rock.... Oops! These aren't' the Jeffersons!

Seriously though, more and more often a pup or two or three (like the three this AM) are getting out of the whelping box. Paul and I went to get a baby pool last night. KMart had only small ones. Target had only inflatable ones and though I gave this idea long consideration, they were all HUGE. WalMart has small ones and large ones with steps and a slide! After long thought and realizing that we'd have the pool cinched into an ex-pen and so the steps would be a fun place for the pups to play rather than an escape route, we decided on the large (6' diameter!) pool with the slide.

Wait nearly 15 min in line (why were so many people at WalMart at 10PM?!), pay for the pool and then IT WON'T FIT THROUGH THE VAN DOORS! Come on! I drive a CARGO VAN! So back inside to wait another 15 min to return the pool and I have to go back up today to see if they got any medium ones in and if not, what does Toys R Us have. Baby pools used to be easy, easy, easy to find. What gives?


Note: Toys R Us finally came through. Medium sized pool with no slide and it did fit in the van!

Oh Bite Me!

Let the pups suck on my fingers this evening and discovered that they weren't sucking, they were CHEWING! Quite a bit of tooth action! No wonder Pekoe is spending more and more time out of the box. They were just 3 weeks old yesterday! I'll start supplementing with goo sometime this week.

Here We Grow Again

Here's A Week Three Summary

Sorry for so few postings this week. Been a very busy one with work. The pups have grown tremendously. They're starting to walk a bit, bark a bit and tussle with each other a bit. They'll be moving out of "the box" and into a baby pool sometime this week. In the meantime, enjoy the slide show. This one is about 45 slides long with pretty good shots of everyone.

Thinking Outside the Box

Not sure if she did it on her own or if Pekoe helped, but this morning when I went in to let Pekoe out, there was a puppy out of the box in the donut bed with Pekoe! The puppy (black spotted girl) was so sound asleep and so still that for a moment, I was afraid that she was dead! Fortunately, this was NOT the case! Since then the black patched boy has also been climbing out of the box! Guess it's off to Wally World to shop for a kiddie pool!

The Eye's Have It!

I haven't been able to get a good photo of it but the pups are starting to open their eyes! All of the girls have a little bit of inner eye open and two of the four boys do as well. In addition to that, I think that some of them may be starting to hear. The patch boy and the tan girl seem to be responding to sound. Each day will show us more and more about that!

The Williams visit

One of my agility students and her family came to visit the pups today. Pekoe sure was glad for the company.

Moving Along

At nearly 2 weeks old, the pups are starting to wobble around on this own. It's really quiet enjoyable to watch. They're eating non-stop and growing like crazy. Two videos to share today - one of them "walking;" the other of them dining. Pekoe is an excellent mother. but she's getting kind of stir crazy with no one but the pups. We had visitors again today and she was thrilled to see them.
